Art in the Round: A Comprehensive Conceptual Framework

 

"Art in the Round" is a concept I developed to describe my identity and work as a versatile artist. It reflects my involvement in various forms of art, including drawing, painting, graphic design, textile design, sculpture, music (like songwriting, composing, and playing piano and guitar), and acting.

This idea highlights a well-rounded approach to art, where different artistic skills are interconnected. The concept of an artist excelling in multiple areas is not new; it reminds us of the "Renaissance Man" ideal, like Leonardo da Vinci.

Da Vinci was not just a painter but also explored anatomy, engineering, and music, believing that all forms of knowledge are linked.

This philosophy matches my approach. I believe that being skilled in different art forms enhances each one, leading to a more complete and meaningful body of work. This idea aligns with the thoughts of John Dewey, an American philosopher, who argued that art is an essential part of human experience, not limited to one medium. Dewey's view that art combines both sensory and intellectual experiences supports the interdisciplinary nature of my work.
