Today was one for the books! After a long day at work, I rushed over to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, eager to witness the incredible feat of Lance Corporal Pabby Saraphina. As I arrived, the energy was exciting, and I couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride as an artist, art educator, and a member of the Eastern Region’s creative community.

Saraphina was in the final stretch of her painting marathon—120 hours in total, and she had already completed an astonishing 105 art pieces. Watching her in action, brush in hand, pouring her heart and soul into each stroke, was truly inspiring. What's even more impressive is that she didn’t even study visual art in senior high school! Saraphina attended Benkum Senior High School, where she studied General Arts. Interestingly, she had planned to switch to visual art upon arriving, without her father knowing, but fate had other ideas. Benkum wasn’t offering visual art at the time. But, like a true artist with passion burning in her veins, that didn’t stop her. From the age of five, Saraphina knew she had a gift—an unquenchable desire to create. Fast forward to today, and she stands tall, proving that no obstacle can stop you if your passion is strong enough.

It takes immense courage for any artist to embark on such a challenge. Personally, I’m so proud of her. Not just for her work today, but for the inspiration she’s become, particularly for female artists. She’s not only pushing boundaries in art, but also bringing much-needed recognition to the art community in Koforidua and the Eastern Region. We often talk about the challenges we face as artists in Ghana—how the world doesn’t always see our worth, perhaps because we don’t support one another enough. But today, Saraphina shines a light on what’s possible when we believe in ourselves and our craft.

In one of my previous articles, I emphasized that "art is not a competition." Today solidifies that belief even more. We must rally around each other, celebrating every success like it’s our own. Saraphina’s achievement is a true example of what we can accomplish when we push past limitations and keep striving for more. She’s shown us that anything is possible, even when the odds aren’t in your favor.

I had the honor of interviewing her briefly during the event, and her humility and passion were evident in every word. She reminded me that, at the core, art is about expression, resilience, and perseverance. Her journey, from dreaming of visual art in high school to now making history with her brush, is the kind of story that motivates us all to keep pushing forward.

As I left the headquarters, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride—not just in Saraphina, but in our entire art community. We have something special here in Koforidua, and Saraphina has given us yet another reason to stand tall and be proud of our region's artistic talent. We’re already planning to collaborate on something big soon, and I can’t wait to see what more we can achieve together.

So to everyone out there—artists, art lovers, and supporters—let’s keep shining. Let’s celebrate Saraphina’s historic moment, as she aims to break the Guinness World Record, purchase her art, and spread the word about her incredible achievement. Today, we witnessed something extraordinary, and this is just the beginning. Let’s wish her the best as she continues her amazing journey!
